The Pad has rubber endcaps, feet, and a rubber frame around the screen to protect the hardware from the inevitable bumps and drops. According to Pepper Computer the Pad is also "splash-proof". There is also an integrated fold-out stand, which holds the pad at a 45° angle. A plastic stylus is included and a stylus holder is located below the screen. The endcaps bend outwards to allow access to the ports and SD card slot.

Runs Linux based on MontaVista Linux 3.1 CEE and Professional Editions. Customized Linux 2.4 or 2.6 kernel.

Originally shipped with Linux 2.4 kernel and Pepper Keeper version 2.0, later upgraded to 2.6 kernel and Keeper 3.0.
